Packaging Design

We offer a full packaging design and origination service tailored to the requirements of printing on to flexible packaging. The two methods of large volume printing used are Flexographic and Rotogravure. Modern computerised engraving technology has reduced Rotogravure printing turnaround times and costs substantially so it now offers a viable alternative to Flexographic printing.

High Definition Flexographic

Flexographic printing is also improving with the advent of new technology, the latest of which is High Definition (HD) Flexographic.

HD Flexographic

HD Flexographic is a relatively new process in the production of digital Flexographic plates and print. Tyler Packaging utilises the latest improved HD plates to deliver higher quality and more consistent Flexographic print results than can be provided by standard digital Flexographic plates/printing. Tyler works in close collaboration with YRG Solutions to utilise HD plates which are produced on the UK’s first inline UV CDI plate making system, rather than using conventional tubular plate-frame UV exposure systems.

With HD Flexographic, the screen rulings in Flexographic printing can be increased, while at the same time reducing the size of the smallest printable dot. This delivers exceptional printing throughout the entire tonal range; dazzling highlights, stable mid-tones, smooth gradients and significantly higher solid ink densities are all achievable by using the system, in conjunction with a special screening technology. The higher image resolution plates deliver sharper looking images, smoother vignettes/ tints and an enhanced colour gamut.

Improved print quality

The consistent quality of offset litho and Gravure printing has always been superior to normal Flexographic. However, with the arrival of HD Flexographic, the gap has been significantly closed, bringing consistency, vibrant colours and improved print quality. HD Flexographic raises the industry standard in Flexographic printing and, as such, the process can now achieve offset and Gravure comparable print quality for a wide range of packaging projects.
